About Dr Kelly

Dr Kelly Valentin is a Perth-born qualified doctor who graduated from medical school at the University of Western Australia in 2011.

Following completion of her internship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, she went on to complete a placement in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King Edward Memorial Hospital, including work at the antenatal clinic, labour and birth suite, postnatal ward and peripheral hospitals (Osborne Park and Joondalup Health Campus).

Dr Kelly then undertook a placement in Paediatrics at Joondalup Health Campus, including assisting in the care of newborn babies in the neonatal unit.

This was followed by terms in General Practice and Psychiatry, which exposed her to a wide range of pregnancy and parenting issues, as well as general health care of a variety of patients.

In 2014, she welcomed her first of two daughters, her second to be born in 2016. It was at this time that she decided to take a step back from full-time hospital work.

Since 2015, Dr Kelly has worked as a Stress Test Physician supervising cardiac investigations. In 2016, she followed her interest in education and began teaching medical students at the University of Western Australia which she continues to enjoy.

Dr Kelly believes that her medical career and professional experience has equipped her with valuable knowledge of the physical and practical aspects of pregnancy and parenting. She has also found that her training to become a Calmbirth® educator, and her own personal experience as a parent has emphasised the need to educate and instil confidence in parents from a psychological and emotional level too.

Dr Kelly Valentin has founded ParentEd WA to give parents and families the ability to move through pregnancy and early parenthood with intention, and without judgement. She is excited to begin by bringing the Calmbirth® course to Perth, and to expand what ParentEd WA is able to offer as a valuable educational resource in the future.
